Mile upon mile of porcelain white beaches, vast stretches of tidal sand flats, forested dunes and mangrove trees. Pambele nestles on the point of the beautiful and remote San Sebastian Peninsula in Mozambique. It is set within 36,000 ha of private land: the Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary. Ranked among the top biodiversity hotspots in Africa, The Sanctuary is home to over 350 different species of bird - it is truly uplifting.
Vilanculos is 45 minutes away by boat. Cut off from the chaos of modern life and untouched by tourism, it feels like a step back in time. Traditional thatched huts line the streets and smiles greet you from every doorway.
Mozambique itself stretches up the southern African coast. It is a lively mix of European, Mediterranean and African influence. In the cities, buildings with faded colonial grandeur stand alongside thatched huts, and the coast boasts some of the best beaches in the world.
